Cable television had its humble beginnings in 1952. There were a number of rural towns that could not get television signals for their new TV sets. A large antenna was place on a mountaintop and people would run a cable from the antenna to their homes. That was the inauspicious birth of cable TV.

Technology evolved over the years and it was discovered that signals from all over the country could be transmitted to a central location and then distributed to a vast number of homes. In 1972, Home Box Office was the first company to sell their signal to subscribers.This{{/tag} helps explain it more. Many others followed suit, and modern cable television became the next big thing.

Cable TV hasn’t slowed down since the 1970s. New innovations have brought high definition signals, video on demand and digital video recording. Almost everything a consumer could think to watch is offered by cable TV providers. As more and more advancements are made, cable television companies will continue to meet the burgeoning technologies head on to provide the consumer with more exciting programming and more choices as to how the content is delivered. Cable TV is already a proven technology, so anything in the future will be geared towards using cable as the delivery system.

When you subscribe to Cable TV services, there are actually a variety of quality levels that you can expect when you are watching TV. The quality of picture that you see will depend on the feed of the channel, if the channel is digital and what subscriber package you have.

One of the biggest factors in determining the clarity of a TV channel is how clean or high quality their feed is. The feed is the data that is being sent to your TV service provider. If the feed is analog, you are going to see a lower quality picture. However, if the broadcast is digital or HD, you have the opportunity to see a much better image.

The next factor in picture quality is if it is a digital channel. Digital channels are much higher quality than analog, but still not as clear and crisp as HD. This is up to the service provider to keep the channel digital or send it along as analog.

Finally, if you do not subscribe to HD services, you are going to see digital or analog. For the best picture quality, make sure you have HD as a part of your service package.

Cable TV has remained a popular option for entertainment. However, there are some major negatives associated with choosing cable TV over other providers of cable, such as satellite TV which will be the focus of this article.Â

Cable TV has increased significantly in cost over recent years. When it was first launched, one of the major attractions of cable TV was that there were no commercials present on these cable TV networks. Over time, that has changed however, and costs have skyrocketed. As a result, the cost of cable TV in comparison with other options is significantly higher.

Cable TV is a regulated industry and there are certain limitations that limit what a channel can show. A good example of this is sports games. Certain sports leagues only provide local games on cable channels and more national games re prevented from being shown in selected markets. This has led to a limit of your viewing options and has constrained your options. Satellite TV options are more varied and complete as they represent channels that are available throughout the country.

Another con associated with many cable TV providers is the negotiations that they have been conducted with various channels. These negotiations often revolve around the fees that these channels are paid as a percentage of the cable subscription. When these parties negotiate, often the channel is omitted from the TV and subscribers are unable to watch. Cable TV stations generally do not reimburse customers for these los features however, which is another negative of cable TV.

Â

There are many pros to choosing cable TV over other service providers. Before making a decision, keep the following factors in mind.

The biggest plus for most people who choose cable TV service is that they don’t have to deal with a satellite dish. They can be unsightly when placed on your home, especially if it is attached to the front of the house. There can also be complications due to weather. Rain and snow can block the signal from reaching a dish. Cable TV will not have this issue.

Many cable companies will offer package deals that can help save you money. Customers may be able to bundle their internet and digital phone service in with their cable. Also ask about the availability of a DVR. Several cable TV companies provide one in their packages.

Another big deciding factor for those trying to choose between cable TV and other providers is if they can get local channels. Cable will offer you the major network channels from your area. Many of the satellite companies will provide the big networks, but not from your local area. Cable TV will also offer HD channels, along with movies and programming on demand.

Cable television is one of the things that families have in order to enjoy their favorite shows. The state of the business is either reaching more people or failing depending on who you talk to.
In some states, it seems as though the rates of cable television continue to rise, and the quality of the channels offered is going down. Some people are getting tired of paying for a service that at one time was affordable, but now it is increasing each month. If you have a package that includes your phone and Internet, then it might be worth staying with a cable company. One of the complaints that people are giving about their cable service is that the connection goes out when there is a storm. The last thing that you want is to be watching your favorite show and the screen to go blank just because it is raining outside.
On the opposite side of the cable television argument, there are people who love the service that they receive. These are the most likely the people who only have a few channels in their home, and they are not paying a large rate to begin with. The number of channels will affect your monthly rate.

As the competition between cable and satellite TV has heated up in the recent years, developments in the way we watch TV have been huge. Because cable is designed to allow two way communication, there are a variety of on demand options that are available to cable customers exclusively.

TV shows can be watched at any time after their air date, even if they are not recorded if you have on demand capabilities. Additionally, people with a digital video recorder service can pause and rewind through live TV shows. Because this system has become so popular, many TV channels are now offering start over options, which allow you to start a TV show at the beginning, even if you turn on your TV in the middle of the show.

Additionally, several cable service providers have begun to offer options that allow people to see programming on a particular channel as far as three days back. This means if you forgot to record a show, as long as you go to the channel within three days of its original air date, you are still able to watch the show.

With new innovations seemingly coming out every day, cable TV watchers have a lot to look forward to.

There are two primary advantages to having a cable service provider in America. Access to high quality cable programming is the first. The second is a stability advantage over satellite systems. Both of these make cable the preferred choice for millions of Americans.

Since the FCC regulations shutting down most broadcast channels, it can be difficult to find enough entertainment on TV to satisfy oneself without having a cable service. Cable offers some of the best channel options available today, both in terms of basic and premium services. Up to the minute sports, news and entertainment coverage is available through the basic package any cable service will offer.

When compared to satellite networks, cable service really stands out. The service offered by cable is consistent. Cable isn’t interrupted by heavy winds, rain or satellite interference. Normally, technicians are available through your chosen cable service provider to help you if your cable does become inconsistent.

When thinking about how to have entertainment delivered to your tv, think no further than having cable service installed. Cable is consistent and not normally subject to weather based outages. Cable has a an amazing variety of shows and media types for you to chose from!

Cable Television has come a long way since it was first made available in 1948. When Cable TV first began to reach out, it was not a method of receiving additional channels, and was only really used by people that lived in areas where they were not physically far from the over-the-air transmitters, but lived in a ravine or a mountainous area where television signals had trouble penetrating. However, as time went on, and the government deregulated the cable TV industry in 1972, original programming became pervasive throughout cable, and now is the sole reason to acquire cable TV instead of over the air.

Another huge change in more recent times is the shift from analog cable signals to digital cable signals. The addition bandwidth that digital cable provides allows for many more channels to be transmitted over the same cable that was laid long ago. This new digital technology also requires to have a special digital cable box, but in return provides a much better, high definition quality video. Of course, the price of this superior cable is also much higher, and in some places the cable company requires their customers to buy many more channels for digital cable.
