Today, almost all American homes have cable-ready television sets and/or a cable TV tuner capable of receiving cable signals. In the United States there are roughly 25 cable television providers that service 100,000 or more subscribers. The combined total of all national cable subscribers provided by the various providers is greater than sixty million. The following companies represent the ten largest cable companies in the nation:
Time Warner and Comcast dominate the north east. Cablevision Systems Corporation serves New England and parts of the Mid West. People in Wisconsin and Illinois get their cable service from Mediacom. The 4th biggest provider of cable in the U.S. is Charter Communications which serves the west coast. Bright House Networks LLC presently has greater than 2 million customers mostly in Florida, Alabama, Indiana, and Michigan. AT&T Broadband is the name that AT&T’s cable operations goes by. Cable One, Inc. is a provider of cable of TV that is a subsidiary of The Washington Post newspaper Company. The Dish Network is actually satellite TV. Found all over the U.S., Dish by virtue of its 14 million residential and commercial subscribers makes it eligible for this list.
